SL Island

The island name is SuperComputing Portal, it is to be located just south of "SploLand" in SciLands

SciLands Senate presence

Meetings appear to be weekly in world at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Second%20Earth%206/92/169/53. The senators and alternate are invited to the SL group "SciLands Senate", and also invited to subscribe to the google group "Scilands". It was from here I received email "Imperial College Students attending tonight's Senate Meeting", which led me to conclude there are weekly meetings. I am a stranger in a strange land.

We need to appoint a senator representing our island, as well as an alternate. With weekly meeting I could understand having more than one alternate. I suspect it may only be the SciLands Council members that actually must attend. I'll figure out the protocols and update it here.

The senator makes decisions on behalf of our island. I view it as an important management and public relations role.

Island Description

SuperComputing Portal, sponsored by SC, specifically the SC08/SC09/SC10 Education Program, seeks to bring super computing, high performance computing, and computational science to the average person via interactive games and activities in the spirit of Shodor's InterActivate. Aditionally, we plan to have adjoining metaverses where we can more easily provide I/O or CPU intensive activities.
