Description

High Performance Computing in Nano and Bio Sciences Research and Education

This workshop leverages high performance computing resources and social networks to strengthen nano and bio sciences research and education. Participants in the workshop will be provided with theoretical and practical experiences at the interface of these domains to improve their scholarly work and further their disciplines.

    • Introduction to the Science Gateways
    • Intro to NanoHub (1-2 hour)
    • Hands-on Task - QC-lab UV-spec, Molecular structure tracer(Most), quantum dot lab as well
    • Hands-on Explorations (all nanoHub tools)
    • Surveys completed
    • Evening open lab (5:00pm - ???)
  • Tuesday
    • Discussion of curricular issues
    • Resources for teaching, CSERD, EDU-GRID, OSG, TeraGrid
    • Quantum Dot lab hands-on.
    • More discussion of nano/bio scientific tools
    • WebMo for Computational Chemistry/GAMMES/GAUSSIAN/Amber
    • Surveys completed
    • Evening open lab (5:00 - ???)
  • Wednesday
    • Morning sessions round-up of ideas and topics spilled over from M/T
    • Survey time -- participants specify Th/Fr content from list of choices
    • Afternoon -- open for participants, instructors work through aggregating surveys
