  • Collision Theory holds that a reaction between atoms or molecules happens only when they collide. During the collision, the electrons around the atoms or molecules can rearrange, breaking or forming bonds.
  • Getting more collisions:


  • Besides colliding, the reactants have to collide hard enough to overcome energy barriers to the electron rearrangements.
