Upcoming Event(s)
- Indie - Innercity schools showoff little-fe on Monday
- We'd be part of afternoon program
- Have them test it on Friday beforehand (on local hardware)
- stable networking needed.
Outstanding issues
- Networking
- Skylar suggests NAT on head node
- Goal to alleviate routing issues
- Leandro to create ticket about network issues.
- How to reset networking on running system?
- rm /etc/network; /bin/bccd-nic-setup
- Skylar suggests NAT on head node
- Note: Liberate takes everything from the running system
- PXE
- Needed for LittleFe/RackClusters
- Not [currently] possible with aufs
- toram
- Should be "runinram" to match convention (set in BCCDv2)
Testing
- Necessary testing?
- NAT: easier with fixed IPs
- LittleFe
- Lone DHCP server vs. Multiple DHCP servers
- Verify that interactions happen correctly (BCCDDHCP requests, etc)
- building vs. testing a running livecd
- build virtual/server, test on real hardware
- many drivers not seen in the virtual env.
- try to test as many scenarios as possible
- what hardware do we have available to do testing?
- old ACLs, new ACLs, littlefe
- What people available for testing/bug-reporting? (Leandro: we are small team)
- Need to be diligent about regression testing
- Doc for testing in wiki
Development
- Kevin to test debootstrap for build-livecd.pl as suggested by Skylar
- devel on the same build host?
- e.g. Screen environment to build remotely and as one has avail. time
- Process for merging changes into main repo?
- Keep separate branches (e.g. for different features)
- Test build(s) before committing anything at all
- Test branch before merging to trunk
- edugrid? gets bogged down frequently
- Fix to setup alternate machine
- Was a0/backup. Now something else
- details of move unclear
- move external stuff (bccd.net, edu-grid) over to 4G frame
- move everything to virtual (VBox?)
- Kevin: virtual env. good for those with little time/money
- Charlie: virtual much slower than native [server] hardware
- Fix to setup alternate machine
- 700M or so RAM needed to build
- Documentation for startdhcp needs to be updated
